- Waitlist information: When you join our waitlist, we collect your name and email address.
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect names, email addresses, and phone numbers for parents and guardians who elect to receive SMS notifications.
- Conversation data: Conversations between teenagers and Thia are stored to provide continuity of service and to support the safety monitoring layer. This data is never shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
- Usage information: We collect basic technical information such as browser type, device type, and timestamps to operate and improve the service.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the Thia platform and deliver safety notifications to designated parent contacts
- To send waitlist and product updates to people who have requested them
- To improve the safety detection and notification systems
- To communicate with you about your account
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers.
3. Teen Conversation Privacy
The content of a teenager's conversations with Thia is never shared with parents or guardians. Parent notifications contain only a risk-level status and guidance on how to support their child — never the substance of what was said. This is a core architectural principle of Thia, not merely a policy.
4. SMS Notifications
Parents and guardians who enroll in Thia and provide a phone number consent to receive SMS safety notifications. These messages are sent only when the platform's safety monitoring layer detects a potential concern. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of SMS notifications at any time by contacting us at the address below or by replying STOP to any SMS message.
5. Data Retention
We retain conversation data for as long as an account is active. Upon account deletion, personal data and conversation history are deleted within 30 days. Waitlist data is retained until you unsubscribe or request removal.
6. Children's Privacy
Thia is designed for teenagers and requires parental consent for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, please contact us immediately.
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure database storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Third-Party Services
Thia uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — for AI conversation processing
- Twilio — for SMS notification delivery
- Resend — for email notification delivery
- Railway — for secure cloud hosting and database storage
Each of these providers maintains their own privacy and security practices.
9. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us. Illinois residents may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
